- digitization of archived data from the Horne Mine, Noranda, Quebec
- 2D spatial lithology, structure and associated assay data to ultimately be compiled into comprehensive 3D model:
1) for feasibility study on potential future mining of the Horne Mine itself
2) to aid in the development of an understanding of similar deposits
3) for historical and archival reference
Software used: ESRI ArcGIS, including proprietary tools in ArcMap



Assistant Field Geologist
Geological Survey of Canada, Wager Bay, Northwest Territories (now Nunavut) (1985) / Dr. J.R. Henderson


- collection of structural data and rock samples to determine lithology and structural history and also to further the assessment of given wilderness area for national park status (now designated as Ukkusiksalik National Park of Canada)
- daily traversing over tundra, both solo and also as leader of two-person team
- general wilderness camp maintenance (stocking supplies, cooking, acquiring water, garbage and waste disposal)
- responsible for end of season packing, listing and shipping of all supplies and field samples
Equipment used: Geiger counter, remote area portable communication radio and antenna, Remington Model 870 12-gauge shotgun, air photos, Brunton compass
Transportation used: 3-wheel all-terrain vehicles, inflatable Evinrude-type motor-boats w/15 to 35 h.p. outboard motors, Twin Otter aircraft, Bell-type helicopter

- collection of glacial till structural data and erratics to determine direction and extent of glacier movement during last phase of Quaternary glaciation
- daily traversing of logging roads and wilderness areas

- responsible for systematic renumbering, mapping and cataloguing of entire field project air photo database
